DC's Department of Parks and Recreation is opening nine public pools on June 19, earlier than planned. The extreme heat has prompted this decision, offering respite and a way to celebrate Juneteenth amidst the record-breaking temperatures.
In addition to the public pools, over 30 spray parks are available in DC. Surrounding areas like Alexandria, Fairfax, and Prince William County will also offer swimming hours due to the heatwave.
