Instead of vaccines or treatments, the focus in the Democratic Republic of Congo is on gaining a better understanding of the situation as the country faces the largest mpox outbreak recorded with over 4,500 cases this year.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization are increasing their efforts to support the DRC in responding to the mpox outbreak, assisting in expanding testing capacity and funding local epidemiological teams.
