Normally it's a bad thing for a first-time manager when he outlasts the bosses who gave him the job. But White Sox manager Pedro Grifol enters his second season in a slightly better situation than you might think.
Getz, who played for both the White Sox and Royals during his seven seasons as a big-league infielder, worked as an assistant to the director of player development in 2014 and '15, when the Royals went to back-to-back World Series. Grifol served as an assistant hitting coach.
