Chelsea are reportedly really keen on a potential transfer move for Athletico Paranaense goalkeeper Bento this summer as they look likely to replace Robert Sanchez, according to Simon Phillips via Substack.
Sanchez only joined Chelsea from Brighton last year, but he's not really had the desired impact in his first season at Stamford Bridge, so it perhaps makes sense that the club are now chasing an upgrade.
It may be that going for someone more proven in Europe would be a safer bet than a player arriving from the Brazilian league, even if he looks like he has the potential to make it at the very highest level.
Chelsea have gambled on a lot of top young players and it's yet to bring results, so one or two more experienced figures in the squad might help the west London giants find more consistency and a higher finish in the Premier League next season.
