According to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) notice, seventeen Tesla vehicles are impacted by this latest recall, including the 2021-2024 Model 3, Model S, Model X, and 2020-2024 Model Y.
The hood latch assembly on the affected models may not detect that the hood is still unlatched after opening, leading to a potential unexpected opening while driving, increasing the risk of collision.
Tesla has not reported any crashes, injuries, or deaths associated with the hood defect as of July 25, 2024.
Tesla has released a software update (Firmware release 2024.20.3 or later) to address the issue by detecting the open hood and informing the driver.
