Emre Kockar, 20, admitted failing to stop after a serious crash and not reporting the incident when his Volkswagen Golf hit a cyclist.
The cyclist sustained a broken bone in his foot and bruises, while his 11,000 bike was irreparably damaged from the collision.
Kockar was caught by Essex Police in Sussex without insurance the following day, leading to a ban from driving, a fine, and community service.
