Kia Global EV Retail Sales Surged In April 2024

Kia's total global vehicle sales in April increased by 0.6% compared to a year ago, totaling 261,022. The company has exceeded 1 million sales in the first four months of 2024, with a YoY decrease of 0.6%. Despite this, Kia's sales of all-electric vehicles have been rapidly increasing, with April's retail sales of all-electric cars reaching 17,140 units, a 90% increase from last year.
Kia expects to continue the momentum in EV sales with the upcoming launch of the new all-electric EV3 and updated EV6 models in the second half of 2024. The wholesale shipments of Kia's E-GMP-based models, including EV3, EV6, and EV9 produced in South Korea and EV5 in China, totaled 8,904, down 6% YoY. The best-selling EV model for Kia is the EV6, with 5,728 wholesale units, though it saw a decrease of 39% YoY.
