The Indonesian government is currently accelerating the development of EVs by preparing for an EV development roadmap and offering various relevant incentives so as to develop a complete EV ecosystem in Indonesia,
Hyundai Motor Group reportedly wants to expand its EV manufacturing capacity in Indonesia to over 250,000 annually, aiming to make it a major production center in Southeast Asia.
Hyundai is the only EV manufacturer with a localized production chain in Indonesia, establishing a joint venture with LG for EV battery cell production and opening a manufacturing facility in Bekasi producing the IONIQ 5 EV.
Indonesia, as a major nickel producer, is a prime location for a battery factory, with both Hyundai and Tesla showing interest in establishing manufacturing facilities in the country.
