A mechanical vulnerability on some Hyundais and Kias made them easy prey for auto thieves, driving a spike in car thefts. Settlement provides anti-theft updates or compensation for affected car owners up to several thousand dollars.
Eligible car owners will be notified to claim settlement funds by mail or email. Websites list affected models and provide instructions for submitting claims for free anti-theft updates.
