Attack makes autonomous vehicle tech ignore road signs
Briefly

Cameras equipped with CMOS sensors in autonomous vehicles can be manipulated through rapidly changing light to distort the color of road signs, leading to the camera capturing unrecognizable images by the classifier.
Researchers demonstrated an attack, called GhostStripe, which repeatedly distorts light to create a constant unrecognizable image for the classifier, posing a serious security threat to autonomous vehicles relying on computer vision.
The challenge in executing this attack lies in precisely controlling LED flickering based on the victim camera's operations and real-time estimation of the traffic sign, requiring a stable and consistent pattern for a successful exploit.
