Before my internship, like many other UCLA students, I was daunted by the sort of mystic impossibility of the industry. I was told by countless fellow students that getting an internship would be impossible, especially without pre-existing connections in the industry.
Probably the #1 thing I hear cited as a barrier to getting into the entertainment industry is that you need connections to get your foot in the door, and that is simply not true.
