Sierra Nevada sees trace amounts of snow, freezing temperatures

Freezing temperatures were widespread in the Sierra Nevada on Friday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Reno. In Truckee and Mammoth Lakes, temperatures were in the teens.
On Donner Pass, the first snowflakes of the year fell softly at the UC Berkeley Central Sierra Snow Lab. On Thursday, accumulated snowfall barely reached the threshold to begin the season's count, with 0.2 inch of snow.
