The sea lion named Finn was trapped at the bottom of a steep sea wall, suffering life-threatening conditions due to incoming waves, prompting a desperate rescue effort.
Rescuers attempted to secure Finn in a net for an hour but struggled until the Redondo Beach Fire Department Harbor Patrol provided essential assistance with an extra rope and boat.
Finn was treated for pneumonia and neurological symptoms at the Marine Mammal Care Center, eventually displaying remarkable strength and beginning to eat on her own.
After a month of rehabilitation, Finn made a full recovery and was released back into the wild at White Point Beach, where she confidently waded into the ocean.
