"If it's not a rattlesnake, then it's not one that you really need to worry about," said Michael Starkey, founder of Save The Snakes.
"Removing sprinkler heads that are leaking" and securing potential water sources like air conditioning units can deter snakes from entering your yard.
Snakes seek shelter in cracked foundations or under items like boards or toys; keeping a tidy backyard discourages them from staying.
