How Bad Is Newsom's Proposed Cut to the Active Transportation Program? Awful. - Streetsblog California
Briefly

In January, Governor Newsom proposed clawing back what remained of the $1 billion 'augmentation' to the Active Transportation Program. Then, in May, he proposed taking even more money away from the ATP, for a total of $600 million.
If his proposal stands, there will be no Cycle 7 funding for the ATP. Contrast this with the State Highway Account, which is expected to be about $5.4 billion this year.
Devastating the ATP while spending billions on highway expansions is anti-climate and illogical; ATP supports climate action effectively by comparison.
Negotiations continue in the legislature, with state lawmakers expressing concern over proposed cuts to the ATP budget.
