The Corral and Patterson fires that burned through the Bay Area this week have been extinguished, according to Cal Fire. The Corral fire, which began near Lawrence Livermore National Lab, burned 14,168 acres, fueled by fast-spreading dry grass and strong winds.
The Corral fire became California's largest blaze of the year, consuming more acreage in 24 hours than all fires before it combined. It brought evacuation orders to 200 homes that were lifted later.
