California's Sierra Nevada poised to see snow in rare cold summer storm
Briefly

The storm is expected to dip down into the northern part of the state and then push eastward starting Friday into Saturday, delivering a mix of scattered showers, isolated thunderstorms, light snow and unseasonably cool temperatures.
It's a lot stronger than what we would normally see this time of year. But it's not a winter storm,” said Sara Purdue, emphasizing that the unusual system indicates notable weather changes.
This storm system is bringing a colder air mass into the area. Temperatures are expected to be coolest on Friday with afternoon highs generally in the 60s and 70s across Northern California.
Overnight lows in some spots will be downright chilly, with temperatures in some inland valleys and locations at higher elevations dropping into the 30s to 40s Friday and Saturday nights.
