The rejection rate for work permit renewals in Sweden almost doubled post the salary threshold increase, with a 6.39% rejection rate compared to 3.47% before.
The rejection rate for first-time work permit applications also almost doubled post the new salary threshold, increasing from 20% to 36% for applications not meeting the criteria.
Top rejected professions included cleaners, fast-food staff, kitchen workers, and chefs for not meeting salary requirements, with the most rejections from nationals of Turkey, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Iraq, and Mongolia.
