People living on welfare are 'doing better' than those who work, Oireachtas study reveals
Briefly

The increase for those in employment is 1.8pc for 2023/24, with public servants faring the worst, because their real incomes will grow by just 0.5pc in the period to the end of this year.
It will be of concern to the Government that while real incomes are growing, with wages outstripping price increases, those in employment are not faring as well.
More than one-third of workers in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector are not of Irish citizenship, up 9pc in three years.
"Construction employment is actually down in the year to end 2023, and earnings in the sector were static in nominal terms, and therefore down in real terms - a concerning trend with current housing demand," the report stated.
