Officers said a 16-year-old boy took a gun from his backpack and handed it to a 16-year-old girl around 12:30 p.m. at Metropolitan Diploma Plus High School.
The school was temporarily on lockdown while officers searched the school for the gun and arrested the teenagers. No injuries were reported, police say, and the investigation is ongoing.
This incident comes just one day after a 15-year-old was shot during dismissal at a Canarsie high school, highlighting ongoing safety concerns in local schools.
