Support at Landmarks hearing for preserving Brooklyn Edison building
Briefly

The Landmarks Preservation Commission held a hearing on the potential landmarking of Downtown Brooklyn's historic Brooklyn Edison building, a 1920s Renaissance Revival tower across Adams Street from Borough Hall.
Muss representative Jeffrey Kay spoke at the hearing, stating that the company had voluntarily refurbished the building's grand but crumbling facade and urging the LPC to consider the importance of the building's new retail spaces to the area.
Local groups, with the support of Councilmember Lincoln Restler, have pushed for the building's preservation; the building was technologically advanced, featuring brand-new electric and telephone systems, as well as its elaborate sculptural arches and mosaics.
