An organized march and rally took place on Sunday, May 19, with hundreds of residents taking to the streets of Ridgewood and Brooklyn, calling for an end to the killing of Palestinians and a resolution to the conflict.
The unified Pro-Palestine demonstration was held just days after the Nakba. Translating to 'catastrophe' in Arabic, the Nakba refers to the mass displacement and dispossession of Palestinians during the 1948 Arab-Israeli war, according to the UN.
The Nakba is a reminder not only of those tragic events of 1948 but of the ongoing injustice suffered by the Palestinians, the UN stated.
Protesters across the city have made their voices heard about the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict. A pro-Palestine demonstration on the campus of Columbia University last month and other demonstrations in Brooklyn and Queens have continued to emerge.
