People forced by NYPD to remove religious head covering could get settlement
Briefly

The lawsuit Clark v. City of New York claimed the city violated the law when it forced individuals to remove their religious head coverings for mug shots during an arrest.
Individuals eligible for the payment were photographed while in custody of the Police Department from March 16, 2014, to Aug. 23, 2021.
Councilmember Shahana Hanif stated in her newsletter that NYPD could pay $7,824 or more as part of a class action settlement related to the removal of religious head coverings.
The class-action lawsuit was initiated by two Muslim women who experienced shame after being compelled to remove their hijabs during their arrest process.
