The Red Sox activated Masataka Yoshida, who had been on the injured list since May 1 due to a hand issue, to bat fifth as the DH in his first game since April 28.
Garrett Cooper was designated for assignment to make room for Yoshida on the active roster after the Red Sox acquired him from the Chicago Cubs; Cooper had a .171 batting average with no home runs and five RBIs in 24 games with Boston.
