The Marlins have sent left-hander Jonathan Bermúdez outright to Triple-A Jacksonville after he passed through waivers unclaimed, following his brief stint on the major league roster.
Bermúdez, who made his major league debut just last week, was effective in his outing, pitching 3 2/3 innings with two earned runs and three strikeouts.
Despite a solid recent performance, Bermúdez was optioned to make space for fresh arms, highlighting the competitive nature of MLB rosters and how quickly players can change roles.
Bermúdez, who has the right to elect free agency after being outrighted, previously showed promise in the minors but has faced challenges in recent years.
