The Boston Celtics honored the late Bill Walton with a moment of silence, tribute video, and warm-up shirts featuring his last name during Game 1 of the 2024 NBA Finals.
In addition to warming up in shirts featuring Walton's name, players also received tie-dye pins as a tribute to his legacy as a notable Grateful Dead fan.
Bill Walton, who died at the age of 71 after battling cancer, had a storied career in the NBA, winning a Sixth Man of the Year award with the Celtics in 1986 and contributing to their championship victory against the Houston Rockets.
