The Celtics, who clinched Banner 18 on Monday night with a Game 5 win over the Dallas Mavericks, will receive the honor Friday, June 21, starting at 11 a.m.
The parade is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. in front of TD Garden on Causeway Street. Ending near the Hynes Convention Center, it's expected to take about 90 minutes for the duck boats to complete the route, officials said Tuesday.
Officials are urging parade-goers not to drive into the city and to take public transportation instead. The MBTA's subway system will be running at peak service levels all day, and the Commuter Rail will have additional trains before and after the parade.
After sweltering temperatures Wednesday and Thursday, Friday's weather is expected to be more reasonable, with a high near 81 and partly sunny skies, according to the National Weather Service. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible after noon, the service said.
