Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters were greeted with an unusual sound: 'screeching' noises that led them to investigate the source in the backyard. After some searching, they discovered a raccoon wedged inside a traffic pole, unable to escape. The Brockton Fire Department said they quickly realized they needed to contact animal control to assist, as the animal was stuck and in a precarious situation, reflecting the urgency of their response.
According to the Brockton Fire Department, who recounted the rescue, the solution involved cutting the pole carefully. 'With a little help of soap and water, the raccoon was freed from its unusual predicament,' they stated. The firefighters worked with animal control to ensure the raccoon could be safely extricated and then relocated. Post-rescue, officials noted that the raccoon was taken to a 'better part of the city,' aiming for a safe return to its natural habitat.
