Philip Gagnon, 59, allegedly aimed a laser at a Coast Guard helicopter trying to land at a Boston hospital, causing crew members to abort landing and divert to another hospital.

Laser strikes targeting aircraft have significantly increased, with 13,304 reported to the FAA in 2023 compared to 9,457 in 2022.
