Despite creating iconic book covers for famous authors like Joan Didion and Maya Angelou, Janet Halverson remained largely unknown and unheralded in the design world until Michael Russem unveiled an exhibit featuring her designs after years of research and tracking down information.
Halverson's niece, Susan, discovered the exhibit online which led to a surprising connection with Russem. Russem was amazed at the lack of information available about Halverson despite her significant impact on book cover design in her generation.
