Racial profiling is systemic problem in Montreal police, judge rules
Briefly

Justice Dominique Poulin found that the city bore responsibility for racial profiling committed by its police officers and was obliged to compensate those affected.
Her decision, which awards Lamontagne C$5,000, also requires the city to pay similar amounts to others who were unjustly profiled and arrested.
Max Stanley Bazin stated that the ruling meets with reality, stating it truthfully addresses the reality of systemic racial profiling and discrimination.
The original class action sought C$17m for those racially profiled, yet Poulin narrowed the scope to incidents between July 2018 and January 2019.
