Columbia students describe 'intimidating' library takeover as masked protesters 'praised' Hamas
Briefly

Tensions escalated at Columbia University when masked protesters entered Butler Library, disrupting students studying for finals. Demonstrators chanted anti-Israel slogans, alarming students like Eden Yadegar, who described the scene as shocking and intimidating. As protesters clashed with security, some claimed they were held hostage during an ID check. This chaotic situation led to university officials calling the NYPD, resulting in over 80 arrests. The incident raised concerns over campus safety and heightened existing tensions surrounding the Israel-Palestine conflict, particularly amid the ongoing global discussions about hostages held by terrorist groups.
Not only was it absolutely shocking and intimidating, but it was disrupting one of the most basic functions of the university.
Which is not only just ridiculous and completely opposed to common sense, but also unbelievable to me that they would make a mockery of the fact there are 59 hostages currently being held by the very terrorist group, Hamas, that they are praising.
I started recognizing students who were suspended last year, who had not returned to school. And that's when I started to get a little nervous.
