American Airlines took action against employees involved in the wrongful removal of Black passengers due to body odor complaints in Phoenix, deemed unacceptable by CEO Robert Isom.
Three Black passengers sued the airline, citing racial discrimination after being removed from the flight. They were informed it was due to a white male flight attendant's complaint about body odor.
American Airlines did not disclose the number or titles of employees put on leave. A new advisory group focusing on Black customer experience and discrimination reporting will be established as part of the response.
