Following Bayern Munich’s unexpected 1-0 defeat to Benfica, Thomas Müller expressed his confidence in the team’s mentality, dismissing notions of a mentality issue as absurd. He noted that bad performances happen and highlighted the importance of professionalism, stating that all players should show the same level of fitness. Müller also mentioned potential future moves, indicating that he is contemplating an MLS transfer while reflecting positively on the team’s upcoming performance despite the challenges faced.
"Are we in Dortmund now or what? Mentality problem? It simply can happen that you play a bad game or show a bad performance, that you're one step too late or too early, that you're not intensive enough, it's human," Müller said with a chuckle.
"We are professionals. We have to be in shape. If an almost 36-year old guy like me can run 90 minutes, then everybody should do it. So no excuses," Müller said.
"There's a chance, but I have to figure it out," Müller said when asked about a potential move to MLS.
Müller emphasized, "We're on track in terms of winning mentality - we keep our self-confidence up and we'll be fired up next game despite the heat."
