Today I got a call inviting me to consider a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: to become the interim CEO of @OpenAI.
Shear certainly has his work cut out for him. The new OpenAI will have to 1) keep a lid on more potential mass defections from Altman loyalists; 2) make peace with the stunned investors, like Sequoia Capital and Tiger Global Management; and 3) earn back the trust of a Silicon Valley confounded and upset by how the most influential artificial intelligence firm of its era devolved into such bitter chaos.
