When generative AI first gained traction, many leaders raced to fund pilots. Too many of those pilots failed to scale or deliver measurable value. The primary barrier was absence of organizational scaffolding to connect technical potential with business impact. Technology can enable progress but requires aligned incentives, redesigned decision processes, and an AI-ready culture to create lasting capabilities. Without these organizational changes, advanced pilots remain isolated experiments rather than durable operational assets. Creating roles, governance, and incentives that prioritize adoption and measurable outcomes is necessary to convert pilot successes into sustained value.
