"Maybe once every few decades a true revolution occurs in the way we teach medical students and what we expect them to do when they become doctors. This is one of those times," Chang remarks on the Harvard generative AI news.
"Grounding students in the idea that medicine is going to be different going forward is essential," Chang emphasizes.
"For a few years, there will be a huge gap in the workforce, so we want to train researchers who understand real healthcare challenges that AI can address," says Isaac Kohane.
The aim is to develop well-rounded physician-scientists who excel in both clinical and data skills.
