Anthropic is bringing Claude Code to Slack
"Slack users can now access Anthropic's Claude Code directly in Slack by tagging Claude on coding-related messages and threads. The new feature is launching today in beta as a research preview. When Claude is tagged, it will now automatically scan the message to see if it's a coding task and, if so, route it to Claude Code using the context from the related Slack thread and the code repositories you've authenticated in Claude Code."
"For instance, you could ask Claude to investigate a bug report you're discussing in Slack without needing to manually copy all the context into Claude Code. The new feature is part of the existing Claude app for Slack, which previously acted as an in-app chatbot. So there's no need to download anything new if you already have it, but you'll need to have the web version of Claude Code set up"
Slack users can tag Claude on coding-related messages and threads to have coding tasks automatically routed to Claude Code. Claude will scan the message to determine if the task is coding-related and will use thread context plus authenticated code repositories when available. Users can also explicitly mark a request as a coding task. The feature integrates into the existing Claude Slack app and requires only the web version of Claude Code with configured repositories. Anthropic recently released Claude Opus 4.5 and claims it surpasses Google Gemini 3 in coding. Early Opus 4.5 tests showed the model refused 78 percent of requests to create malware or malicious code.
