While accurate information is crucial to democracy, ascribing the ability to determine the next election to a technology that has been public for a little over a week is at best premature. At worst, it reinforces a mythology of technological agency that causes far more confusion than any single technology possibly could.
The problem is that none of this is true, and this inaccuracy promotes particular political interests that are bad for democracy and worse for economic equality.
