Some contributors think the rule is likely to fail, suggesting a more limited rule that requires businesses to make noncompetes available before an employment contract is signed.
Others see the ban's potential to transform industries, such as the tech sector, by allowing departing workers to start new businesses or strengthen their career prospects.
