Former S.F. building commission president pleads guilty to $775,000 fraud
Rodrigo Santos, a 64-year-old civil engineer and former president of the San Francisco Building Inspection Commission, has pleaded guilty in federal court to defrauding clients out of $775,000, arranging donations to bribe a city building inspector, lying to the FBI and other accusations.
...
Santos attorney Randall Knox declined to comment on last week's plea, which came just weeks after Nuru reported to prison to serve out a seven-year sentence handed down by a judge who castigated him for making San Francisco's competitive bidding and permitting process "a farce."
...
In total, Santos pleaded guilty to 17 crimes, with a maximum sentence for each of between five and 20 years in prison.
