Wayne LaPierre, the longtime head of the National Rifle Association, is resigning just days before a New York civil trial that will examine his leadership.
LaPierre is accused, alongside other NRA executives, of illegally diverting millions of dollars from the organization for personal expenses.
New York Attorney General Letitia James is seeking to ban LaPierre and the other executives from leadership positions in any not-for-profit or charitable organization in New York.
