Japan's "Moon sniper" mission aims for precise lunar landing
Japan's Smart Lander for Investigating Moon (SLIM) mission will attempt to land on the Moon's surface on Friday.
If successful, Japan will become the fifth country to soft-land a spacecraft on the Moon.
Landing on the Moon is a hazardous task, as several previous attempts by commercial landers have failed. [ more ]
