We did this in April, and now we're going to do it in May.The Braves had an okay month, and with the Mets sweeping the Phillies, they no longer have the biggest division lead in baseball.Still, it's 3.5 games, so we shan't fret too much.Instead, let's check in on what's been going on around the league.
Yankees 10, Padres 7: Offense cracks double digits to seal series win
The Yankees ' offense had not been a strong point in recent games.Even in Saturday's win, they only scored three, and they had only put up five runs total in their previous three games.In Sunday's series finale against the Padres, the offense was not an issue.The lineup put up seven runs in the third inning alone, and cracked double digits for the first time in a couple weeks (a month if you're not counting outbursts against hapless Oakland arms).
Today's matchup was an Apple TV+ exclusive in the big apple.Huge news for those of us who like to know that Rougned Odor had a two percent home run probability in the first, or seeing a camera angle a millimeter away from Trent Grisham's forehead while he argued a called third strike.Anyhow, despite the national broadcast, the Yankees failed to shine very brightly in the spotlight.

The Yankees were tasked with taking care of business against a not-terrible-but-also-not-very-good Reds team over the weekend, and much like they did when the A's came to the Bronx earlier in May, they swept the inferior opponent away.I don't mean to hammer this point into the ground, but completely handling teams like this is exactly how the Rays built their strong start (and also what the Yankees did early in 2022).
