The thinking is two-fold. You can't have too much talent at most of those positions, and you don't have nearly enough talent at any of those positions. The Dolphins had a decent, although not necessarily strong 2025 draft class despite the fact all seven draftees got playing time last season, and five made at least one start. None of those rookies seems on a path toward stardom or even a Pro Bowl.

College football's offseason transfer window opened one week ago, and coaches across the country have only 6,200 Division I players in the portal to choose from at the moment. Portal season being compressed to a two-week period, from Jan. 2 to Jan. 16, this year has sped up an already dizzying process, with hundreds of players making decisions daily. A dozen FBS programs have already secured commitments from 20 or more players in the portal.

It's been a bumpy season for the Dallas Cowboys. The team had big expectactions coming into the year, despite taking on a new coaching staff. The front office was very active this offseason adding several new players to the team. Even though they remained frugal in free agency, the were aggressive in other means, orchestrating seven trades that added veteran players to their team. Some of these deals took place before the draft, others happened

There was some surprise among the Washington Commanders' fan base when general manager Adam Peters held firm at the 2025 trade deadline. Speculation was rampant about potential outgoings with the team in free fall, but the front office leader didn't pull the trigger. This represented a clear sign that the Commanders were not ready to give up on the season. Adding to the squad via trade was not an option, but Peters felt there were options around that could salvage something from the campaign.

Golden State's Valkyries left space during the inaugural draft, prioritizing free agency and the next draft. Tempo can learn from this cautious roster-building strategy.
