Addressing sexual harassment is crucial for the well-being of the victim.
Carlos described his return home as a journey filled with memories of familiar neighborhoods and voices, yet he felt a quiet distance from them. Years spent in Tampa reshaped his identity, altering how he spoke and related to others. He recognized everything around him but felt a disconnection, as if the bond between his place and self had loosened over time.
On February 1, 2026, a man associated with Ivaylo Kalushev received a message from him: 'Goodbye, friend, we are very tired and have no more strength.' The next day, police found the bodies of three middle-aged men at Kalushev's burnt lodge in western Bulgaria.
This arrest is an important step toward accountability, but it does not change the bigger truth: this tragedy was entirely preventable, attorney Robert Glassman of Panish Shea Ravipudi LLP wrote in a statement obtained by CBS News.
Since cellphones became ubiquitous, drivers have been texting behind the wheel, leading to awareness about distracted driving. But experts have clocked a new culprit: people watching videos, such as YouTube or TikTok, while driving.
Isabelle Valdez, 15, and Lois Lippert, 14, were accused of plotting to murder a classmate, with Valdez admitting to planning to use a knife found in her backpack. In an apology, she expressed feelings of being 'disgusting, cruel, and useless,' indicating deep-seated issues.
Adolescence is second only to early childhood in the rapidity and sheer volume of changes occurring in brain development. Three different brain systems (and their interconnections) are at play: reward-driven behavior, harm avoidance, and regulatory behavior. At the same time, teens are experiencing powerful changes to their physical and sexual selves, accompanied by the hormonal cascade of puberty. During this period, there is an increase in brain receptors for dopamine, a neurotransmitter that has a strong effect on the experience of pleasure.
My local Target was the first place I noticed the shift. One day, a few years ago, a sign appeared: red text on white paper announcing that no one under 18 would be allowed in without an adult. Before the poster, every weekday afternoon, clots of teens would move through the arteries of the store, occasionally blocking them. The kids would laugh among themselves, swatch makeup on their arms, peruse the candy offerings.
It's something many people do on a daily basis without thinking twice about it. But a new survey has revealed how driving is leaving many Gen Z absolutely petrified. Experts from Tempcover surveyed youngsters about the common motoring tasks they find the most daunting. Changing a flat tyre was the biggest fear, while parallel parking, hill starts, and merging onto a motorway were also found to terrify hundreds of young drivers.
The teenaged boy was the victim of what local news sources called a "social-media challenge" or "TikTok stunt" gone awry. He'd been with a group of friends who were filming the exploit, and who fled the scene without calling for help for fear of getting arrested - though, naturally, they also immediately posted video of the accident to social media.
They were right. If you've been around interscholastic sports long enough, you can sense trouble. The real problem arrived in the fourth quarter, when two players tackled each other at half court. Coaches and teammates rushed in, and one boy appeared to kick the player from the opposing team. Security and administrators broke up the tussle, but this time parents made it to the center of the action.
The Gambling Authority of Ireland (GRAI) has found that problem gambling is much more likely amongst people who were exposed to gambling as children. The study, which was conducted by the ESRI's Behavioural Research Unit, found that rates of problem gambling are significantly higher among people who gambled as children, whose parents gambled, or whose parents had positive attitudes towards gambling.
If O'Connor is convicted of sexual battery or molesting a minor, Webby said she would be required to register as a sex offender under California law. A conviction on all counts would also carry a potential sentence of more than 30 years. Prosecutors have identified 14 named juvenile victims, seven girls referred to as Jane Does, and seven boys, or John Does, according to Webby, and none of the testifying juveniles have immunity agreements. In addition, prosecutors have other juvenile witnesses, who are not named victims.
That someone "should get out more" is usually said as a joke, a light comment aimed at someone who seems stuck or overly absorbed in a narrow concern. It can sound dismissive or even sarcastic. Yet what if it contains serious psychological truth? We often praise people for being open-minded, creative, or flexible, as if these are stable personality traits that some individuals simply possess. We admire those who seem to think differently and assume they have access to something rare.
No longer is gambling confined to Las Vegas casinos. A 2018 landmark ruling by the Supreme Court allowed states to legalize sports betting, opening the doors to new types of online gambling and games of chance. 'Young boys are largely being pulled into this universe online by algorithmically sent messages,' said Steyer of online games that include chances to open loot boxes and 'win' a prize. 'It seems so innocent, but in fact, it's no different than going into a casino and putting down five or $20 on a hand of blackjack.'
