European Union officials have determined that iMessage, Bing, and Microsoft Advertising do not hold a dominant enough position in their respective markets to be subject to stricter regulation under the Digital Markets Act.
Despite Google and mobile carriers pushing for iMessage to be designated as a gatekeeper service, the EU ultimately sided with Apple.
Apple has to support the RCS messaging standard, allowing for more secure and feature-rich messaging between iMessage and Android. [ more ]
