The country recorded an average of 493mm of rain this autumn, making it the fourth wettest in 85 years of records for Ireland, according to preliminary Met Éireann data from 25 weather stations. In its latest seasonal climate report, the national forecaster said autumn 2025 was very wet but mild. September was relatively cool and wet. It was followed by a mild, dull, and wet October, with Storm Amy bringing widespread heavy rain and the windiest period of the season.
After deadly wildfires in Los Angeles in the beginning of the year, and a series of massive blazes over the summer, California is experiencing a "calm period" with no major fires currently burning. Cal Fire's emergency incident webpage, which lists all the ongoing wildfires in the state, does not currently show any active blazes as of Tuesday afternoon. After weeks of monsoon-fueled thunderstorms, wildfires and sweltering heat, " an early season cold front " is expected to bring temperatures down across California this week. "We're going to have rapid cooling, with the biggest drop in temperatures tomorrow," Kristan Lund, a National Weather Service meteorologist in Oxnard, said Monday. "This is one of the biggest cooldowns we've seen, especially since June. ... This will bring temperatures pretty far below normal."
