The community board supports Mayor Mamdani's plan for protected bike lanes on 31st Street in Astoria.

Since the city removed one vehicle traffic lane in each direction in favor of a parking-protected bike lane between Calyer Street and Meeker Avenue in 2024, the boulevard has seen more cyclists, fewer vehicles and slightly-slower travel times.
Ken Podziba, Bike New York's president and CEO, emphasized that the Five Boro Bike Tour is not a race, but an opportunity to see New York City on two wheels. He stated, 'You ride across the five bridges, and you see the skyline in front of you. You're experiencing it at street level.'
"This project is symbolic of what we've done over the last 12 years, reshaping the streets and the city," Christophe Najovski, the city's deputy mayor in charge of green spaces, stated during the opening ceremony.

The Wildcat Canyon Flow Trail would be located in the western portion of the park, north of Wildcat Creek Trail on a hillside near the Mezue Road intersection. The proposed trail would be up to 4-feet-wide with an average grade of 5 to 7%.
If you could have a trail that went through Warren County and connected with a trail that goes up to Tahawus, then you could connect that to the Albany trail, and you could go all the way from New York City on a multi purpose trail into the heart of the Adirondacks, which would be pretty cool.
Leading the pack is the Blackhead Range Traverse via Kaaterskill Falls in Haines Falls, with a near-perfect 94.14 score. The two-tiered waterfall, tucked into the eastern Catskill Mountains, has long been a favorite for painters and hikers. Now cyclists are getting in on the action. In fact, Kaaterskill routes appear four times in the top ten, as the dramatic cascade regularly stops riders in their tracks.
