Bayview's Third Street corridor hosted community giveaways, new murals, holiday events, and infrastructure cleanups to engage residents and visitors.
I think it first comes out of my natural inclination to work in many different mediums. Growing up and looking at [the work of] Henri Matisse and Andy Warhol, my understanding of a masterful artist was an artist who evolved their practice through experimentation with different mediums. When I knew I wanted to be an artist, I aspired to have a career in which each body of work propels my practice forward.
Not even eight years after it was finished, the mural was obscured by a 25-storey high-rise built next door. Peering from the sidewalk into the small gap between buildings as this CBC Arts writer has done you can no longer glimpse a single beam of Letendre's luminous Sunrise. The masterpiece of Canadian art has been eclipsed behind a condo tower.
